Suggestions please!

Calling all mommies....

The Brooks Diaper Bag is getting an overhaul and I'd love some input from you! Tell me what the diaper bag of your dreams would include......extra pockets, more bottle holders, easy open tops? I want to make the new Zwei Diaper Bag the best thing out there so.......I'm listening!

**Leave a comment between now and the end of February to be entered into the Zwei Baby contest! One lucky person will win their very own Zwei Baby Diaper Bag!

I have been through so many diaper bags!!! My dream bag would be roomy inside, but small enough to fit in the tiny basket under my Macleran stroller (can that be done??). I would also love a seperate bag that attaches, or detaches, that I could put "my" stuff in so if I run out with out the kids I don't need to bring the whole bag!

Love your items!!

Oohh, I could sure use a new diaper bag, baby boy is coming in May. :) I am looking for one with several compartments, (like a zippered middle) so that I can have a space for my diaper kit, a place for a few toys and a space for food. You've certainly got the cuteness factor down, so I don't think I need to tell you that :) Hmmm... a couple small pockets on the side to hold necessities like a burp rag and a binky would be nice too...

i usually use my diaper bag as a purse as well. i often have a hard time finding my keys in there...so maybe a velcro tab or something i can hook around my keyring?
beautiful work!!

I use my diaper bag as a purse also...
Would LOVE
a place to hook keys
Lots of big pockets to hold wipes case/diapers
elastic loop to hold a bottle

Great contest idea!!!

I agree with the key loop. Other things that would be ideal are a matching changing pad and a matching zippered wet bag - both with pockets to store them inside the bag.

My ultimate diaper bag would have individual pockets that would keep bottles and sippy cups upright so they dont' spill everywhere. It would also have a zippered or buttoned pouch to keep my wallet safe and out of sight. Lastly, it would be trendy and beautifuly, just like the Brooks diaper bag!

Lovely work! Organization is really important to me so, lots of pockets please! Also easy access to keys/wallet and at least one bottle holder. A matching wet bag is a great idea too!

Your diaper bags look awesome! My perfest diaper bag would have to be washable, have lots of little pockets on the inside so that you are not digging at the bottom of the bag for everything, as well as some big sturdy elastic holder on the inside, I prefer a smaller diaper bag. great contest

A chip or some kind of locator/tracking device, should anyone ever walk off with the bag, and/or God-forbid the child.

Also- rewashable minky nose/face cloths for sniffles and cleanup.

I love your diaper bags, and the fabric in the one pictured is awesome! That's one thing that's a must have -- great design/fabric so I look stylish! I'm also a pocket girl, I don't want a black hole that collects all the little nick nacks that I need to carry in my diaper bag. I love having a diaper/wipes holder that I can take out and carry JUST that and not have to lug the diaper bag around, so if you could incorporate that into your bag, or just make a matching one? That'd be awesome!

I have your Brooks diaper bag (same as the one shown) and get so many comments on it. I pass along your website to so many people. I think that the bag should have a zippered compartment. Also, deeper pockets would be great. Finally a matching bag to put all my stuff would help keep me organized. Oh, another great thing would be a diaper/wipe container (that could hold a few diapers and your wipes).

I'm looking for a new diaper bag, so I'll have to keep my eyes on this one! Your bag looks fabulous! Things that are important to me: I would love a carabeener (sp?) to hook my keys on - I'm not too fond of the velcro idea b/c velcro gets worn out, but a little clip would be perfect. I also love lots of pockets, and some with elastic to hold bottles/cups upright. Lastly, it has to be big - trendy big with room for 2 sets of clothing and pyjamas (I have two kiddos) and diaper, wipes, bottles, etc! and then I can finally stop dragging around that hiddeous Dora backpack!

Whew! But anyways, I love the fabric choices and the bag so far! Can't wait to see what you com up with next!

You've got some great suggestions already!

I think that a small, removable zippered pouch/purse that attaches to the inside would be really handy, so you could keep your keys and wallet secure, but also just snap it out when you don't need to take the entire bag with you when you need to zip into the shops.

Also, I like big bags that carry everything, but don't like too many little pockets, because in the end I just get lazy and chuck everything in together anyway. I was thinking of the inside of a bag divided into 4 big sections would be more practical for me!

Can't wait to see the end result!

Thanks everyone for all your great suggestions!!!
Anyone have opinions on handles?
One, two, long, short?

Artifax said...

I don't have babies any more, but what I really wanted in a diaper bag was for it to actually be 2 completely seperate bags, just joined together. I liked my milk and milk supplies completely seperated from the diaper supplies in every way. I also wanted it to be square or rectangle like a camera case. The coolers for milk and diapers themselves were rectilinear, but the bag were always soft sided squishy things and everything moved around without that large flat bottom.

My two cents :) Hope it helps you!

Brayden's Mom said...

I'm going to agree with kerstee about too many little pockets. I'm lazy and its overkill. Big "sections" instead would rock!

My bag handles (2) might be a little short so they don't stay on my shoulder that well but your picture looks like the handle might be the perfect length (I'm sort of tall).

Ouside pockets are a must! I use those the most (full size pocket on front and back, one is zippered, and a pocket on each side for easy to grab hand sanitizer and stuff).

And yes, you already have the cuteness factor handled!

for Diaper Bags I like -

FUNCTION
light weight
"wipeable" material (uggg -spillage)
one strap

AESTHETICS
color neutral (grey,dull silver etc)
looks like a purse

my dream bag would have a flat bottom so i could put it down and it wouldn`t fall over. it would have a shoulder strap like a messenger bag but also have tote straps. it would be dark coloured so the stains didn`t show up as well and LOTS of pockets.
but also big enough to put all the things a toddler needs!

i would love for the bag to stand upright on it's own and not fall on itself when not completely full. instead of compartments for my wallet, keys, etc... i'd rather have a pull out separate so that i wouldn't have to take the whole big bag with me if i was just running in somewhere quickly. a "dirty" bag would be great- lined with vinyl and washable. a changing pad would be great, but i think i would prefer one that rolled up to the ones that fold up and slide into a pocket... it would give more flexibility with more padding. sections would be great- maybe even offer diaper bag caddies (similar to the purse caddies that have multiple pockets and zippers and such) that way women that like those have the option of adding them, but those that don't like them won't have to work around them. a snap closure would be better than zip closure so you can do a quick reach in if need be.

My perfect diaper bag would be vertically oriented, rather than horizontally oriented (that is, the triangle shape is tall rather than wide), so that it doesn't hit people as I pass them or walk around them. It would need to have long enough straps to wear comfortably on my shoulder.

I would like someplace on the outside of the bag to attach or store my keys and phone so that I don't have to try to open the bag to grab them quickly.

Washable is a must, with a separate pouch to put small things in so they do not get lost and can be taken on short trips. Also, a separate spot for dirty clothing and maybe even a plastic bag storage, dispenser of sorts for disposal of messy diapers.

Love your shop. Good luck with the design!

I got another comment on my Brooks bag today while out and about.
I wanted to comment on the handles...I like the idea of having one (like I do now) but a little bit longer.
I also think the bag's pocket on the outside should be zippered. I have toys in that pocket and they always seem to fall out when I'm getting the kids into the car. Inevitably there's a nasty puddle of water right there :)

You have got lots of great suggestions and I think I agree with ALL of them. My baby is coming in August and definitely need a new diaper bag.
I LOVE diaper bags that have a separate spot for mom's things such as phone, key loop, wallet, make-up, etc. that you can zip up yet easy to find...actually I love the idea of a matching smaller bag that you can take out and also a matching changing pad. I like smaller compartments around the outside of the things that you need on hand (like a binkie, burp cloth, bottle/cup, etc.) You've got to have cute (but you are already good at that!) I like having one long strap in addition to tote handles.
Hope it helps...I'm sure it'll turn out great!!

I never did find the ultimate diaper bag. I'm looking now for a bag that can double as a medium purse/diaper bag. I NEED a pocket I can dump my keys into while lugging a baby on my hip--preferably on the outside of the bag--but that won't fall out easily--but no zipper. I need one to hold a diaper/wipes holder, 2 sippy cups, a water bottle for me, and snacks for three! Also, a change of clothes for a little one. Maybe not--he never needs changing like his sis did! I need an area to dump my wallet, phone, a pen, business cards. Preferrably not all tossed about--but organized.

When they were little, I needed an organized spot for my wallet/phone, a place for keys, a place for tylenol/oragel, a place for pens. I needed areas for clothes, burp cloths, diapers and wipes, and then snacks/sippy cups/utensils/bibs. All without being HUGE! HA! :) I preferred something I could wear on my forearm--ended up using backpacks, but hanging them on my arm most of the time--except that lovely airplane trip with a 5 wk old on the front in a baby bjorn, and the back pack on my back! What craziness!

I like two straps, and long enough to sling across my chest so it stays put and doesn't fall off if I'm out and about, bending over, etc.. I also like the separate area for my stuff, like keys, sunglasses. I also like a separate compartment for a water/drink bottle of my own as well as a compartment for baby bottles, sippy cup.

Thank you so much, Twinmommy! I hope I win :)

I too never found that perfect diaper bag...one that both I could use daily and one that my husband isn't embarrassed to haul around if need be. I think having external pockets that are lined with a waterproof fabric would be fantastic for sippy cups, as well as an outside pocket with velcro for a cell phone, keys, etc. Adjustable straps for either over the shoulder or over the chest are great. I love the fabric pictured... it is what we used for my daughters bumper and crib skirt!

Oh...how fun! We are waiting for our little one to come home from Vietnam but I do have experience with carrying other kids around with their diaper bags. I love the ones with the compartments lining the insides of the bag for diapers, wipes, elastic for bottles/sippies, a zipper pouch would be great. I think a matching diaper/wipes clutch is a great idea. I was online looking for one to match my changing pad today! An outside pouch is always helfpul for cell phones and keys too! Can't wait to see what comes of this survey!!

I currently have the velcro and ribbon closure, and although it allows you to stuff the bag to capacity, I feel like I'm always having stuff spill out of the bag. I like the idea of a messenger style closure (with a zippered spot on the outside flap). That way I could keep my cell phone and keys in the zippered compartment.

I'm afraid I don't have any helpful suggestions regarding the bag design! It's very pretty, and I wanted to enter myself in the drawing because my friend is expecting. I'm sure she would love a bag like this!

I can't give very specific input since my husband and I are TTC our first baby and I haven't owned a diaper bag yet.
I have browsed (in my excitement) and noticed that so many are not stylish. I want a diaper bag that looks like a purse and can be gender neutral. Also, one pocket with extra lining might be nice to help keep a bottle/cup/food insulated.

btw, I love your bags, the prints are amazing!

I currently have a messenger style bag with magnet closures, but it pops open when the bag is overstuffed - which it always is! I'd love a separate section for MOM stuff so I don't have to pull out six diapers to find my cell phone!
